The Great Fire of London 1666
From 2 to 5 September 1666 London was ablaze. Having started in a bakery in Pudding Lane in the early hours of Sunday morning, the fire quickly spread across a large part of the city, destroying thousands of buildings including St Paul's Cathedral.

In the true London spirit of resilience, the city was re-built in the years afterwards with great improvements of sanitation and fire safety.

This year marks the 350th anniversary of this tragedy that cost many their lives but didn't manage to bring London to its knees.
