1945 - Abraham Pisarek
The photographic oeuvre of Abraham Pisarek (1901-1983), who worked as a press photographer from the late 1920s, is unique in many ways, especially his depictions of Jewish life in Berlin from 1933 to the early 1940s. As a Jew he was forbidden to work from 1941. He documented the new beginnings in Berlin after the collapse of the Third Reich. One of his most famous photographs from this time is the handshake between Otto Grotewohl and Wilhelm Pieck during the Socialist Unity party conference in 1946.
