1945 - Nuremberg Trials
After the end of the Second World War, Allied forces held a series of military tribunals to prosecute prominent members of the Nazi party. The trials were held in the German city of Nuremberg which, before the war, had been the location of the annual Nazi propaganda rallies, and although the most famous leaders of the party, Adolf Hitler, Heinrich Himmler, and Joseph Goebbels, had all committed suicide, 23 of the most high-ranking political and military leaders of the Third Reich were put in the dock, on trial for their crimes.
