1945 Capitulation of Japan
2nd September 1945 - The end of the Second World War

On August 15, 1945, the Japanese Emperor Hirohito announced the unconditional surrender of the Japanese Empire to the Allies on the radio. On the US battleship "Missouri" was the signing of the capitulation of Japan on 2 September 1945. Thus World War II ended in the Pacific.

A consequence of the Second World War was the unique confession of
Japan to pacifism. Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution from 1946 prohibits any martial activities as well as the maintenance of armed forces.
